Some of Rayjon’s first projects were education focused and this commitment continues today through Pinson school in Saint-Marc, Haiti, the tuition support program in Cap-Haitien and PLADESCUBA preschool in Barrio 41, Dominican Republic. Just like here in Canada, our students in the Dominican Republic and Haiti are on summer vacation at this time of year.
At the PLADESCUBA preschool in Consuelo, Dominican Republic, our young learners are focusing on foundational skills that will give them a head start when they transition to elementary school. The emphasis on early childhood education ensures that these children are well-prepared for the challenges ahead, setting a strong foundation for their future academic success.
In Pinson School, Saint-Marc, the past year has been one of remarkable growth for students in grades 1 through 6. Our dedicated teachers have witnessed significant academic progress, despite the challenging circumstances in Haiti. However, hunger remains a pressing issue, making it difficult for some students to concentrate. In response, the local women’s federation is stepping in with the breadfruit project, aiming to alleviate hunger and ensure students can focus on their studies. This initiative is crucial, and we hope to see an ipmact in the coming school year.
Meanwhile, in Cap-Haitien, our tuition support program continues to empower students. We are thrilled to announce that two of our supported students will be entering their final years of study this September. Their perseverance and hard work are truly inspiring, and we are committed to supporting them every step of the way.
